Joey, our sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, may have looked like royalty, but his life didn’t begin that way. He spent years confined to a cage far too small, misunderstood because he was deaf. When we rescued him, we gave him the life he deserved—room to run, a cozy couch to rest on, and endless love. We even taught him sign language, and by a twist of fate, discovered he was the half-brother of our other Cavalier, Lady.
But more than anything, Joey lived for fetch. His little orange and green ball never left his side, and he would play for hours, full of pure joy—we often had to make him take breaks. Though we only had him for a few short years, he showed us what it meant to truly live, love, and be free.
Though Joey left us 14 years ago, the love he gave and the joy he found in the simplest moments still live on. And that’s exactly what inspired this cookie.
